Theater and Cinema
Theatre du Gymnase
Built in 1820 by two architects Rougevin and Guerchy the Theatre du Gymnase has long been a place of liberal representation. At thebeginning, the building housed the rehearsals of the Conservatory students, who train in only one-act plays to interpret major characters.
Since then, remarkable works such as “Les Parents Terribles” by Jean Cocteau and “The violins sometimes” by Françoise Sagan, were represented on the legendary Parisian scene. Today, the theater has become a must for every good comedian: Pierre Palmade, Jean-Marie Bigard, Dany Boon, Chevalier & Laspales or Michèle Bernier are part of the long list of comedians who took away the crowd in memorable laughter!

Théâtre des Variétés
This mythical theater in Paris, registered historic monument, is a masterpiece of architecture. It opened on June 24th, 1807 on the initiative of Margaret Brunet, La Montansier. This young woman was very fashionable and brought the in-crowd of Paris. Unfortunately, the theater had a sulfurous reputation and the Empire’s administration tried to close it.
After periods of ups and downs, Hippolyte Cogniard directed the theater in 1855 and hosted great entertainment revues, light comedies interspersed with dances and verses. In this context, the Théâtre des Variétés celebrated Offenbach and enjoyed a considerable success.
The place is today headed by Jean Paul Belmondo and remains a vital theater of the capital.

Théâtre du Palais Royal
Located between Avenue de l’Opera and the rue des Petits-Champs, the Theatre du Palais Royal has a story to fade over a Parisian theater. Built by Cardinal de Richelieu, it was at one time home of King Louis XIV when he was a young child. Louis XIV will hand down the place to Philippe III d’Orleans that will make it a place renowned as a theatre, the garden and the café where walkers like to hang out. Jean Poiret has signed there his last adjustment in 1992 and major artists such as Sacha Guitry, Robert Hirsch or Marthe Villalonga have stepped on the floor of this magic place which was named a long time ago “Palais-Cardinal”.
